SSDA are bad debt collectors and it’s better to make payment arrangements with other debt collectors whenever your account is handed to SSDA

We have a concern about how SSDA treats us. N Sifaya had an MTN simcard contract of data bundles and she stopped paying for her contract in 2023, and her account was handed to SSDA while owing R2 467 as a closed account and on Tuesday of the 12th August 2025, we phoned MTN and they told us that her contract account was handed to SSDA and when we phoned SSDA, and they told us that we should pay R4 391, so that they could clear her name and also give her a paid up letter.

So on the 13th of August 2025, we paid R4 392 to SSDA account and mistakenly put her initial name and surname as reference, which after we contacted SSDA and informed them what happened, and also provided them with a proof of payment and they promised to fix it because as long as we have deposited the money to them, they will do the rest.

So after paying R4 392 to SSDA, when we phoned them, they started telling us that we have to pay another money of R2 467 to MTN account. And which out of desperation we did because we wanted her account to be cleared so that she could get a paid up letter. And now when we request a paid up letter, they are not assisting us and they have started telling us that we will get a paid up letter after 21 working days.

And now, after we have paid around R7 000 for her MTN closed account and which according to the Credit Bureaus, she was owing MTN account about R2 467 but SSDA have ****** us and made us paid more than 3 times of what she was owing MTN and again, they are still refusing to fix her credit profile and also escalating her paid up letter to the major credit bureaus companies.

So we are asking Hello Peter to assist us, about what can we do to get back our money from SSDA and also report SSDA on how badly they are ill treating customers, because they are now violating our rights as debtors. Because it is our rights as debtors to get a settlement letter or paid up letters after paying debts.

We want our money back so that we can find another Debt Collector that will be able to assist us in our case and pay them in behalf of MTN because SSDA is not helping us. Their service consultants doesn’t even have good customer relations skills and we even wonder, how they got MTN contracts to handle MTN debts of the closed accounts because it shows they don’t have good credentials and they treat people like they are doing them a favour.

And they could be well connected and that’s why they treat us like this but their days will come. And we even have all the proof or evidence to win our case
