Substandard accomodation

Even 1 star is overrating the accomodation at Serurubele Boutique Hotel, in Mpumalanga. On the 27th September 2025, we booked accomodation at Serurubele through recommendation by the bridal family, of the wedding we were invited to in Rooiboklaagte( Bush buckridge). The lady who assisted us with reservations informed us that the hotel is full booked, but they have newly built hotel across the main hotel that is of the same standard as the main hotel. We asked multiple times if it really is of the same standard as we are paying the same amount as the main hotel and she assured us it is. We paid the full amount for 2 rooms for 1 night and sent POP. Upon our arrival, she again informed us that we need to go to the newly built hotel across the road. She asked us whether are we driving or walking. She proceeded to get into one of our vehicle to go across the road. We drove on a gravel road atleast 1km from the main hotel. A man manually pushed open a steel gate. Behind the steel gate was individually built "rooms". The showed us 2 rooms that were incomplete. They had holes were plugs still needed to be installed, the doors not completely painted, no water from basins. One of the rooms had water leaking from the fridge as we entered. The rooms are incomplete and have a damp smell. Outside, a lady patron was complaining of the substandard accomodation they expect her to stay in, she has been shown 3 rooms already and each room there is an issue. She told the reservations lady accompanying us that she expects half of her money back, if she had a choice she wouldn't sleep in those rooms. She traveled from Gauteng for the wedding and there was no alternative accommodation nearby. We went in and out of the 2 rooms, verbalised our dissatisfaction and utter disappointment and we decided to drive back home to Nelspruit. We were not given accomodation we paid for and they refuse to refund us. Serurubele Boutique Hotel cannot treat clients as such. It is thievery in another form.
