What a nightmare!

* I decided to use Seraphim Removals due to their 5 star rating on Hello Peter. Communication with Pollen was good. But all changed to a nightmare when the actual move took place. From the start a date was set, and arrival time 13h00. They arrived after 16h00. It was arranged that a car trailer came with the truck for a non runner car. No trailer. It was even suggested that the non runner car be driven to their warehouse in Jhb by one of their drivers. Really? After heated negotiations with Nigel another truck was sent after 19h00 to collect the car. So all was well, so we thought… It was arranged that our furniture and car would be delivered first thing on the day we moved into our new house. They arrived after 20h00 that evening. First they struggled for an hour to release the car from the trailer, technical issue or inexperience issue, not sure, but my son and son in law had to assist, and finally, at almost 21h30, the car was offloaded and damaged in the process. And damaged. And then came the big shock. My marble table top was broken, my 60’s leather lounge suite had water damage and scratch marks, my antique glass and wood display cabinet was ruined due to water damage, and so were my pine grocery cabinet and very sentimental paintings. My desk was completely broken and in pieces. The 50 blankets included in the price to protect my furniture were nonexistent. There were maybe 5 blankets in total on the truck. The evidence is clear that my furniture stood outside in the rain for a considerable time before being loaded, or that the truck was leaking water on the way to Cape Town. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to sort out an insurance claim with Nigel for the damages, but nothing has been done in this regards. It has been almost 2 months now since our move, and I am still not compensated for my loss. I am reporting this fiasco to warn future movers to stay away from Seraphim if you value your possessions. *
