While our facilitator was great — though more because of who she is as a person than due to any training or guidance provided — Sensing Autism as an organisation failed to add any real value. Considering that their fees are roughly double those of a standard au pair, the experience was a complete waste of money. They simply did not deliver what was promised. The commitments made to us at the start of the programme were not honoured. The supervising the****** was meant to see my child once a month but attended only one session in five months, and the facilitator was also meant to attend therapy sessions monthly, which only happened twice. When I raised these concerns, instead of accountability or an effort to make things right, I was met with defensiveness. I also received a WhatsApp message from management that included inappropriate personal comments about our parenting and home life. When I explained that this was unprofessional, I was told to take it as “constructive criticism.” There was also a serious lapse in supervision on one occasion when my three-year-old was left unsupervised with another child and ended up outside. Thankfully no harm occurred, but it could have had devastating consequences. Repeated administrative and billing errors followed, including fee changes made without written agreement and incorrect invoicing that we had to resolve ourselves. We tried to salvage the situation, as my son had grown attached to his facilitator, but management showed no accountability and displayed extreme unprofessionalism instead of making things right. Please be warned — and note that many of the positive reviews appear to come from within the organisation itself rather than from actual parents.
