Selldirect selling on behalf of Telkom without customers knowing it

I received a call from Telkom number informing me that I am due for an upgrade. With Covid-19 and all I assumed doing business over the phone might be easier than to go in person to a telkom shop to do my upgrade.

1 day later my current sim card with Telkom stops working and I have no idea why. The next day delivery is received with my new modem and sim card for my "upgraded contract". New sim still does not work and I am still contacted by Telkom to inform me that I am due for an upgrade. Who is selldirect and why do they do business on behalf of Telkom and misinform their client.

I was promised over the telephone call that I will only receive a new modem and my current sim card will still be active. I have also received calls for me to add additonal sim card to my contract for extra data. At least I have declined this otherwise I would be taken for a rde twice.

I am ready to send back device and cancel contract with Selldirect. I was not informed once that contract will be canceled and transfered to them as a new customer.

Stay away
