Rude telesales agent from company in violation of The Direct Marketing Associations opt out database

I would like to know from Sell Direct Marketing, whose company voice recording proudly states that they are a member of the FSB and Direct Marketing Association, how they can flagrantly disregard the Direct Marketing Associations opt out database and still call me, through an extremely rude and offensive telesales agent?

My story with your pathetic agent is as follows:

I received a call from Sell Direct Marketing telephone number ********** this morning, 31/05/2017 at 09.11am. The caller identified himself as Abdul Malik and was calling about my Cell C contract which is due for upgrade. This individual also called me the previous day but I could not take his call at the time.

I asked him if he could please email me information of the packages he has for the specific phone I wanted so I can peruse at my leisure and make a decision. He informed me that they do not send out any material but will only send contract details after.

I informed this gentleman that I was not interested in and do not take up contracts telephonically and if he could not give me something beforehand in writing, I will end the call and go into a Cell C outlet to renew when ready. The very persistent and rather pushy gentleman continued to probe and advise that he does not understand why I am reluctant to take up a contract telephonically.

At this stage and given his rather obnoxious attitude my patience started wearing thin and asked him to please not be pushy as I will not be taking up his offer. The individual continued rudely interrupting me, probing me for reasons for my reluctance. I again categorically informed him that I do not take up telephonic upgrade contracts. Having given him an opportunity to speak he again insisted on reasons for my reluctance and this was when I informed him that he was now wasting my time.

At that point the discussion basically deteriorated into nothing more than an argument but the kicker came in when this person had the audacity to ask me if I was fasting or not (he obviously picked up that I am muslim) as I sounded rather irritated. I demanded to know what that has to do with anything and asked to speak to his boss. The arrogant person rudely responded that he is the boss and why I wanted to speak to his boss as I was the one continuously interrupting him.

I am left not only highly irritated by this call but extremely offended as well!

Thankfully my mobile is an automatic voice recording application and I have the entire abrasive call recorded so can prove the distasteful experience!

If Sell Direct absolutely must have a reason why i dont do telephinic contracts, yes Abdul Malik, that means you too, all you need to do is take a look at the plethora of negative posts of just how bad YOUR service as a call centre is and how rude and arrogant your agents are. This comes from people posting from across the country!

Sell Direct Marketing, I am talking the matter up with the Direct Marketing Association, who as mentioned, you very spiritedly claim to be a member of. Again, I am registered on the Direct Marketing Associations opt out database and have been for more than a couple of years now, having opted out of all unsolicited email, home, work and cell calls as well as unsolicited sms messages. You, Sell Direct Marketing, are therefore in direct violation on this.

Any self respecting company wanting to protect its image would give me a courtesy of a response on this platform or by meeting me in person. You seem to have all my details. Looking at the lack of responses from you to all the other similar posts on Hellopeter doesn't leave me with much confidence of receiving one.

I've taken up with Cell C who hopefully will move to remedy, but am taking up with the Direct Marketing Association as well.
