A few weeks ago Sell Direct sold me a new cell phone contract through Telkom. I was told that Sell Direct would migrate my old number once my new phone was activated. When after 4 days this had not happened I was told to do it myself through Telkom. This made me very annoyed and I tried to cancel my contract as I was given a 10 day "cooling off" period. This was the day a miracle happened and Sell Direct answered their phones on about the 18th attempt. I was not allowed to speak to a manager or the cancellations department but I was given a reference number, and was told I would be contacted within 3 days. I also put my complaint in writing which has been emailed four times now. It is now 8 days later and nobody has contacted me. Surprise.....not. I managed to make contact today but my cooling off period ended yesterday so if I want to cancel my contract I have to pay for the phone. Why am I being penalised because Sell Direct do not take calls, do not return calls, and do not reply to emails??? In between all of this I was told that my contract does not cover SMS's. Really?? This was NEVER mentioned to me. And the person who answered today's call to Sell Direct was very unhelpful and rude. Is there an ombudsman or Consumer Protection Council this can be taken to?
