Very Terrible Info and Service

When applying with Selfmed , they told me all the nice stories of being 100% covered anywhere.

On the 21st of October my wife in need of medicine ,went to the ONE Pharmacy that is listed on the CareCross list in Lephalale/Ellisras. When arriving infront of the line, the pharmacist told that I need a persciption from the doctor. I went to the CareCross list again , there where only one Doctor Listed in Lephalale/Ellisras. So we went to the Doctor , only to find out that the only Doctor in a 100km raduis is not even in Lephalale/Ellisras anymore.

I phoned Selfmed.

They phoned me back to tell me that I , that is the Client, must phone CareCross so they can give me authorisation to see another doctor. So I made contact with CareCross, and I am still waiting for a reply.

How is it my problem to solve this issues?

Why do I pay medical aid when I must do their jobs.

I must drive 200km to go and see a Doctor just for over the counter medicine.

Why is false information given trough to us?

With reference to your complaint, please note the Scheme’s response. The option you have chosen is a Network option that provides affordable healthcare through provider Networks. Benefits are communicated to all members via e-mail prior to registration with the Scheme. The list of Network healthcare providers are available on the Carecross and Selfmed website. Carecross needs to approve and provide an authorisation number for consultations with an Out of Network doctor. Your enquiry was escalated to Carecross who will revert to you before close of business today. We regret that you have not experienced the service we are renowned for and remain committed to providing excellent service to our members. Regards SELFMED MEDICAL SCHEME
