Deposit not paid back

On 14 April I hired a car from Select Car Hire at King Shaka Airport in Durban. I returned it two days later. It is now almost a month later and I am still struggling to get back my deposit.<br> <br> I chose to put down a cash deposit of R8000. On returning the vehicle in good order, I was told the deposit would be paid back to me in about a week.<br> <br> Despite a number of phone calls to the branch manager, and despite numerous assurances, I have yet to receive back my deposit.<br> <br> The last time we spoke, just over a week ago, she assured me (after apparently speaking to the accounts dept at head office) that the deposit had in fact been paid into my account (I specifically asked for clarification) and that she would send me proof of payment by the end of that day.<br> <br> Neither the money nor the proof of payment materialised.<br> <br> I have been sent from pillar to post by Select Car Hire and I am still struggling to get back my deposit. I have now had to hand the matter over to an attorney.<br>
