A great local company? I'm in wait and Sea ... land.
I love the Sealand brand a lot ... I have probably bought 10 bags of different descriptions for myself, friends and family over the past 3 years.
But this is a service review, not a product (the stuff is generally of a high quality) or a brand review (it's a great SA brand, their recycling ethos is world class).
Weeks ago, the zipper on my Sealand moonbag (again, good quality YKK) stripped and I returned the product to the V&A store. They took my name and cell number and said they would replace the zip and call me when it was back.
Crickets ...
So I dropped by, and, lo and behold, it was in the back.
I took it home, transferred all my stuff to it, zipped it up and ... still stripped. :( On closer inspection, the zip hadn't been replaced, which prompted several questions: 1. Did it even leave the store? 2. If it did, did it somehow slip though the cracks without anyone actually looking at it? 3. Or did someone actually look at it and decide 'this zip looks ok ... let's just send it back and see what happens'? 4. And if it did leave the store, why did no one call me when it got back? Back to point 1...
Not the kind of service you'd expect from a local company that seems to have set a high bar in every other respect. The annoyance of going weeks without something I use every day just compounded by the realisation that it was all for nothing. Do I take it back and wait a few more weeks in the hope that they do something about it, or do I write it off and buy another moonbag ... not from Sealand?
