Just brought a faulty hard drive

My partner bought me a Seagate hard drive from a Incredible Connection Bayside.

Needless to say, this was brought for me as I needed to back up all my documentation, pictures, work etc etc.

I hardly used it and it became an ordiment next to our TV as said before was used for backing up all my information.

It stopped working, for no reason, 4 months later. (Hardly Used, but everything I own was saved onto there)

We took it back to be told that it was a faulty hard drive and that they could see there was data on it but they could not retrieve it.

Incredible Connection told us that it was sent back to the manufactor, and they could not reteirve it as well.

I am terribly dissapointed in this ordeal as such as thats what we pay R1400.00 for a hard drive for, to save our personal documentation on it. Regardless that they break, I never at one moment did not look after it. If a faulty device wasnt sold then maybe this would not have happend.

I asked if there was another company who could help retrieve my data and then soon after had to go to Rondebosch to see what a company called Southbit could do for me. A quote of R2000 - R4000 is what it would be to get everything back.

Needless to say we were also told if we had someone open up this faulty device that our warranty would not stand and we would not have the device replaced.

I have sent an email to not be contacted back by Seagate. I would really appreciate a plan of action here as i am not prepared to loose data over a faulty device that was bought. I understand things do break, but I didnt break it, and to not have it replaced is loosing out on R1400 for no reason at all.

I do find it unfair that I have to try find other companies to see of they can retrieve data as that is what the company states they can do.

Regards,

Judith
