False Advertising

My wife and I recently spent our wedding anniversary over the weekend of the 24 to 27 September at SeaStar Cliff. I am not one that usually complains but as this was a special occasion, we were expecting so much more.

We made our booking through booking.com and selected the Double room with sea view. Paying R1300 a night we were expecting great service and facilities.

In turn we received a room that was not displayed at all on the website, only 1 image of the bathroom. If we had known that we would be getting the small corner room without a bathtub(main reason we booked at seastar) we would not have booked. This is false advertising on your part as it is listed as having a bathtub, I even requested 2 weeks in advance that we get a room with a bathtub.

Apon arrival we were met by the host(he is friendly and does try his best), he then had an incorrect message linked to our booking and obviously did not see the request for a room with a bathtub.

The room we received was very small with no bath. He proceeded to apologise but could not do much more as all the rooms were booked out so we had to settle for this room.

The ''sea view'' was a very partial view and the windows were so dirty that you had to have the doors open to be able to see anything. The room was on the corner of the house so the patio was right against the parking area so no privacy at all.

Apart from all this the facilities in our room were very poor, basically everything had some sort of issue:

First night we had no hot water in our room, this was only fixed the following day after breakfast. On the second morning we once again had no water and this was apparently due to all the bathtubs using up the hot water (just rubbing in the fact that we did not have one) On the second day we noticed that the fridge in our room was not working, I asked the host to help and he moved it to a plug next to the bed leaving the fridge in front of the sliding door. we then went out for the day only to return to the fridge still not working. The host was not available so I then proceeded to try fix it, I managed to fix the wires and it then worked. On the second night we had no electricity in our room until the next morning. Throughout our stay we continuously requested coffee and milk for our room as there was none (we did not buy any as this should be included), we received on our final morning but it was cheap sachets and did not use it. The listing mentioned a coffee machine, unusable as no pods were supp****. They forgot to service our room during our stay, they only proceeded to do so after asking on our 3rd day. There was a TV in our room but no facilities to watch anything, we had to use our laptop and plug it into the TV.

Overall, this was an extremely disappointing trip and we sure won't be returning or recommending this to anyone. For the amount of money we paid we expected a whole lot more. Total waste of R4000.
