Do not trust this company and their assessments of vehicles
Would never recommend this company to anyone R500k mistake thanks their service. They checked a vehicle in Durban for me. As soon as the car arrived in Port Elizabeth I noticed issues. Their report raised no flags. In short, car had been in two previous accidents which is noticeable to the eye , paint colour variations and bodywork misalignment. Over and above that, the issues where endless, on board computer system not working correctly, reverse camera not working, parking sensors faulty etc etc - So far R20k or repairs which an additional R70k to follow. Being the great company they are, they just washed their hands of my case after brining this all to their attention. I am not sitting in a dispute with the ***** dealership - Emerald Auto
It is unfortunate that you have had this experience with Screan and we apologise upfront if we missed anything during this inspection.
Having said that, we must again state that our inspections are only valid for the day of the inspection as we have no idea what happens to vehicles after our Screaner has left the premises.
The inspection took place on 22 December 2025 and you only took delivery of the vehicle around 13 January 2026. Unfortunately anything could have happened to it during that period. It was transported down to Gqeberha on a truck.
Furthermore, the Screaner who conducted the inspection has over 40 years experience in the trade with no prior issues; therefore, we have no reason to doubt his report.
In response to your allegations about previous accidents noticeable to the eye, is it not true that you liaised with our key account manager and told him that it was in fact a dealership friend that told you this. You also said that you personally couldn't see it until he pointed it out. The vehicle's metal body and plastic bumpers will very seldom match exactly in colour.
In liaising with the Dealer Principal of Emerald Auto we were informed that they were prepared to cover the whole invoice of around R20, 000, but that you had apparently offered to contribute R5000 towards the cost. This was before Screan had the opportunity to assist with solving the problem. He also confirmed that the PDC was working fine at that time.
In conclusion, our advice has always been that if you are not happy with the vehicle you just bought, you have rights under the "Consumer Protection Act" which includes returning the vehicle to where you bought it.
Kind Regards

As far as the paint variations - this is a tell tale sign of previous damage and within your area of expertise to pick this up firtly and report back on it, NO?
There is another R70k of damage yet to be repaired on this vehicle and now sitting with the Ombudsmen and no further help or response from the dealership.
Why pay you for a service you shouldn't be offering if you cant pick up the basics.... As stated, poor service, poor aftersales service, no ownership of your mistakes.... All now coming at my cost
Mike is you are the CEO and this the way you run your company.... it probably explains a lot. Quick to take someones cash, supply a less than average report giving the car a clean bill of health to purchase..... and now I sit with all the ****. At the end of the day, this is what you do, yet you now claiming all of this happened between the screening and delivery over the Xmas shut down period... Laughable
