Beware of false promises
Please be aware of false promises and under delivery. We bought a 1/2 Oz Gold Mandela Mint-Mark Medallion for about R20000 in 2010 for our son with money he inherited. The aim of the exercise was to teach him different ways of investing. We were told a few things - that it was a limited edition with limited quantities, you will get maximum investment after 5 years, and they will buy it back if he wanted to sell. Well - he wanted to sell because he wanted to buy Kruger Rands. We were then told that they are not buying back as they have enough stock (limited quantities?). After much complaining we got an offer (from the head office via the branch) for R 23 000 (Maximum return?). He made more money on his investments in the bank! Sad thing - he wanted to buy Kruger coins from Scoin! His lesson - never trust what you are told by sales people. Our lesson - use other avenues of investing - this is not worth it! His last comment - \I will try to sell it myself
