Terrible service -disappointing experience

I am deeply hurt by the terrible service we received at this restaurant. what was supposed to be a special family celebration turned into a stressful and upsetting experience. my family from Joburg was in town to honor the memory of our late brother, who used to run the Sanlam marathon. After our 10km run, I decided that instead of cooking we would go out for a buffet lunch. This restaurant was the only place i could find , and I sincerely wish I had never set foot in it.

The problems started before we even arrived. I was told to pay a deposit and send a proof of payment , which I did. However , I was later contacted by a staff member who claimed they couldn't see my payment and demanded that I pay again. When I asked why I had been asked to send proof of payment, the response was rude and dismissive. After a long and unpleasant exchange , he eventually apologized and retracted his demand. Relieved , I confirmed the booking with my family and thought everything was sorted.

When I arrived , we were shown to our table and just as we started eating , the manager called me aside. I thought perhaps it was to offer an apology for the earlier issues, but what followed was far from that. The manager continued where the staff member left and demanded that i show them my bank statement. I refused to do that because that was infringing on my personal information rights. then they demanded I pay again the deposit. I did that but I was so hurt by the way i was treated , I felt like a ********. I asked them why do we then have to send proof of payment if you will not believe that is legit. The rest is worse, spoke to white lady who is in charge and she made it even more worse.

The lack of professionalism and respect was appalling. this was meant to be a joyful, memorable day for my family but it was *****ed by the rude and unorganized service we received. I truly regret choosing this establishment for such an important occasion and i would not recommend it to anyone looking for pleasant dinning experience. this is not how customers should be treated, especially during a family celebration.
