Satellite Masters - master price gougers

So you are really desperate to be taken advantage of. Choose satellite masters. They are the masters at that - master price gougers deluxe!

My mother in law was swapping cottages on our property. She needed to have her dstv set up in her new cottage. My wife looked up installers in our area and chanced upon this "sterling bunch".

They arrived, did the work and connected the decoder to a dish that had been installed last year around September. Following the work, my wife received an invoice from their office via WhatsApp. The total amount to add a cable and change LNBs came to R6,544.65. Yes, you read that right, folks. Let me say that again - R6,544.65! Further, they wanted immediate payment by EFT.

When she initially contacted them, she was told the call out fee was R350, and the pack, I'm assuming an installation pack, was around R600. So how do you go from plus/minus R1 000 to R6 500?

I then called the person my wife had spoken to to organise this milking, a Mike Muchadziya, and asked what all those costs were that had been added. After a while I stopped listening and said he must tell his guys to take down everything they had installed as we were cancelling the entire thing. We were not going to pay R6, 544.65.

I then proceed to tell the technicians on site they must remove all the parts they had installed, reinstall our single LNB, we would pay for the call out and they were to leave.

After a while of arguing, my wife now received a new invoice for R3, 578.78 via WhatsApp! My wife, being the gentle soul she is, at this point decided to pay this amount. I would have sent them packing.

So how do you go from R1,000 to R6, 500 down to R3 500. Simple, the techies on our property told us we should have asked for a discount. Doh! How stupid we were!!! We should have asked for a discount all along.

It's a pity I cannot upload a photo of their glorious work. That alone would warn you off satellite masters.
