Sasol Protea Glen Exploits It's Employees

I started working for Sasol Protea Glen in November 25th 2020 (that's when I signed my contract) and there's been problems from the beginning. The manager (Victor) along with the assistant manager (Lebogang Letsie Mphahlele) were horrible to work with. We were made to work individually in a kitchen where we had to cook food from scratch, bake ****ins, make sandwiches, bake the pies, wash dishes throughout the day and clean the kitchen, the shop, toilets and locker rooms too. We had a walk in freezer that had no proper PPE and when I asked when it'll be bought the assistant manager (Lebo) would say he doesn't know. We were expected to wear spare jackets from the storeroom that were more often not available, were dirty and weren't the right size. I had to access the freezer and it's content unprotected and would have frost bites everyday. I expressed to the manager and assistant manager that I have an asthmatic history and me being in the freezer with no protection would make me sick and I begged them countless times to buy the suits meant to access the walk in freezer with before I fall sick again and I was quickly brushed off and 5 months after working there my asthma came back more aggressively. The contracts we signed were 3 month probation contracts that expired end of February 2021 and were never renewed (to my knowledge, even today workers that remain there don't have their contracts renewed). Instead of management renewing the contracts, we were told we shouldn't rush and we were threatened with dismissal 2 months after the contracts expired and told if we give management a problem they won't renew our contracts and we will be dismissed. To date, more than 15 employees have either been dismissed unfairly or resigned. I fell sick in late April 2021 and was booked off for a day but I ended up bed ridden for 3 weeks but keeping in contact with the manager. He called me within the 3 weeks to come and sign for "something" and I had to get up in my sick state and go there to be served with a dismissal letter on May 21st 2021. I decided to take the matter to MIBCO and we (myself and Sasol Protea Glen) were called for reconciliation/mediation in August 2021 and the official mediation in November 16th 2021and no one from Sasol Protea Glen showed up and I won the case. They were issued with the report and an order to pay me as the case was found as an unfair dismissal in December 2021 and to date they haven't paid me. I also contacted the labour department in respect of my falling sick at work and was told that Sasol Protea Glen needs to fill in paper work for workman's compensation and benefits to be paid to me. I've been in constant contact with them since last year via email and they still refuse to pay me. They also dont pay us in full, the former assistant manager (Lebogang) came out admitting that monies weren't paid in full. The former manager Victor also measured KPI's with hearsay from other employees. They claim to have paid me a minimum of R5675.35 every month when the best I got was R2 500. I barely went to the bathroom because the kitchen is always busy and the day I decided to take a bathroom break the manager (Victor) came running after me and called me out of the bathroom to come and serve a customer. I was made to clean toilets and come back and serve customers food in the kitchen. Please someone do something about this place and help me get what's due to me.

I was called by a very kind and patient lady from the Sasol Contact Centre (I forgot her name) on the same day I wrote this review. She promised me she'll escalate my complaints and do her best for it to reach the owner ultimately. After she called, I was called by the head of HR for Sasol Protea Glen (Donald) and he said we should meet on the 3rd of March and I agreed. Upon arrival, Donald was stunned to see I wasn't alone and proceeded to ask my mother "oh, you must be the mother". Proceeding with the meeting, he then stated that "R7 500 was a small amount of money for people to run around like this" and then said he'd pay it in instalments and the first installment would be on the 15th of March 2022 and the last would be on the 27th of March 2021. He made me sign a paper stating that I'm okay with the suggestion (which I was) and wrote my banking details on the same paper. He then proceeded to sway me to delete my review and threatened I would never find another job because I wrote a review on Sasol, thus proving that they give me bad reviews when new employers call them about me. It's the 16th and my account is empty. I don't know why Sasol granted Hendrick Kganyago the right to franchise this business because he treats people like ****. Management doesn't care about us and they have made it clear. There is another employee who has the same problem I have and they use the same delaying tactics. Sasol Protea Glen couldn't care less about it's employees. I'm here waiting for my money to buy a laptop for school and now I'm stuck because I can't buy it. Sasol Protea Glen is filled with a bunch of *****s including the owner!!
