Poor Service from Sasol
On the 16th or 17 of September I went to the Sasol on Hill street to fill fuel and water. There was on 1 petrol attendant and there was 4 cars at the pumps. The attendant was trying to multitask by attending to the 4 cars at the same time by filling petrol, taking payments, filling water and seeing to the customer. In the rush my water bottle cap was not put back on. Please note that my car is only used for shows so that weekend I filled the water and was parking the car off after I planned on taking it for a drive. While driving it on the way home the car heated up before I parked it off. A few days later I started the car again for its weekly test drive and the car started jerking. When I opened the bonnet I see there is no water bottle cap. I then purchased a cap and replaced it. The car still was jerking. When I took the car to my mechanic and after inspecting it he advised I blew the head gasket. The head now needs to go in to the engineers. I called the owner of the garage who advised he can not do anything. I called Sasol head office and explained the issue. I was asked on Friday for my email address which was provided as they will provide me feedback. Since Friday no feedback. Today I sen a SMS to the Sasol rep requesting feedback on the below email was sent to me.
Good morning, We acknowledge the customer complaint at Sasol Ferndale that took place on the 16 September 2017, which was only reported to Sasol call centre on the 28 September 2017. As per our discussion on the 28th September , you advised that the petrol attendant was simultaneously busy with other customers whilst serving you. This could have resulted in him not replacing the radiator cap. Due to the volume of CCTV footage, the site only keeps video footage for an average of 7 days. Based on the complaint being lodged 12 days after the incident ; there is no CCTV footage to verify the incident. In light of the above and in consultation with the franchisee, we regret that there isn’t enough evidence to prove the claim .
So now it becomes my fault and I am out of pocket because I dont drive my car everyday and only noticed this after a while.
Is this customer service. I have to suffer for a garage being under staffed by having 1 attendant managing the fore court.
Dont garages have liability insurance for such things.
I have my show car for 13 years and take very good care of it. If it was my fault I will take full responsibility of it. I dont feel it is fair that I have to bare the brunt for other peoples incompetence.
