Petrol in Diesel car

I stopped at the Jan Smuts service station and asked the (apparently trainee) attendant to put in R400 diesel. My car has a bright yellow diesel sticker on the fuel cap. All seemed fine for about 2kms when my car started stuttering and smelling awful. The attendant had filled my car with petrol instead of diesel. <br> <br> The manager at the station was helpful at first, saying the attendant had made a mistake and that she did not want to bring it to the attention of the \main"people as he would get fired. That was obviously not what I wanted. She said to bring her the bill from the mechanic and she would make a plan. The costs of getting the car running again amounted to R2694.10 (but to actually properly fix the now broken fuel injectors will be far far more than that). <br> <br> The manager then suddenly changed her tune and now she said that the attendant (who only earns R500 a week) would be able to pay me R1000 upfront and then R100 a month. I was horrified. How can Sasol take it out on their (trainee!!) employees for making a mistake - they have insurance for this type of thing. The manager has since refused to take my calls and I just feel like the manager has handled it so terribly. """
