Injured Sasol employee

Sasol Group Human Right’s Policy paragraph 3.3 states that, “ SASOL offers a safe and healthy working environment and a secure workplace. We provide safe and healthy working conditions on our sites for all our employees and service providers. We provide a secure workplace that does not infringe on human rights, and is free from any form of violence, abusive behavior, harassment or ************”. There has been a fuel spillage at the Tshwane Depo of Sasol last year that resulted in the injury of a black female driver. The spillage occurred due to incorrect dispatch information reflecting that certain compartments on the fuel tank was empty whilst it was full. The driver then proceeded to fill a compartment that was already full and resulted in the spillage. The female driver sustained chemical burns to her eyes and is now suffering from poor eyesight and chronic dry eyes. The driver was subsequently fired and now cannot find employment due to her poor eye sight but the dispatch staff were spared by the OHS investigating officer who is an Indian male. She was also not offered any form of compensation for her injuries sustained and she has also not been compensated though the compensation fund for her injuries although she can no longer work. The doctor appointed to treat the women for her injuries needs to also be investigated and a case of medical malpractice needs to be opened against the Doctor who is a Sasol registered doctor as she did not provide suitable medical care for the women in question that resulted in her being partially blinded. Is this the way we treat our fellow black employees in Sasol? Do we throw them to the curb? Very sad that in this day and age large corporate get away with ******.
