DAMAGE TO VEHICLE at Sasol Garage

DAMAGE TO VEHICLE at Sasol Garage

On Tuesday 2 may 2017 at about 14H20, I pulled in to the Sasol service station in Peter Road to refuel I handed the attendant my keys and asked to fill up with DIESEL
I got out of the vehicle to go to the back with him asking him to please be careful not to mess diesel on the paintwork of my car
I also watch how the keys with the fuel cap is put on the flap so that it does not scratch the paintwork

The attendant then disappeared and I walked around the car to find him He came hurrying back and pulled the nozzle out of the car Saying it was PETROL
He then said it was Petrol that I had asked for I told him no I know it is DIESEL
I asked him to call the owner of the service station He told me a manager was on the premises so I told him to fetch him
The “Manager” asked me to repeat what had happened The attendant said he had made a mistake and realised before the tank was full
The “Manager” said he would contact their “mechanic” to get the tank drained as this happens often
I phoned my husband to get to the station

The “mechanic” said it would take a while to drain the tank and suggested that we come back later to collect the vehicle
After work at 17H00 we returned to the service station, but they had the vehicle jacked up and were still busy
The “mechanic said it would take another hour or so, so we decided to dinner in the vicinity
At 20H00 when we phoned the “mechanic” he said the job would only be completed the next morning
Next morning the vehicle was only ready after 11H00

I drove to do a delivery and when parking back at our premises my daughter saw a deep gouge on the bottom sill on the passenger side of the vehicle
I immediately went back to the service station The “manager” said it was clear that the jack had slipped and was annoyed that the ”mechanic” or his staff had not reported this to him
He told me to get a quote to repair the damage and bring it back to him for payment
I went to Auto Magic a reputable repair shop for the quote

We took the quote back to the “manager” and he said he would take it up with the “mechanic”
For over a week we heard nothing so my husband returned to the service station
On this occasion the “mechanic” was summonsed as well He then admitted that the jack had slipped and remarked that VW make ******* jacks

Both the ‘manager” and the “mechanic” refused to pay for the repairs and we were sent to another backyard establishment in Zandspruit where the quality of work done cannot be guaranteed

This vehicle was recently purchased and on delivery the salesperson did a very thorough delivery detail All spanners lock nuts and tow hooks were in the compartment under the floorboard
Yesterday I happened to open this compartment and all these tools have been removed
What should have been a basic refuel exercise has become a nightmare for me and a joke for the “ manager “ of this service station

The manager now refuses to pay for the damage and brings SASOL Petrol stations in disrepute.

Please advise how do I resolve this.
