We pay SARS but SARS has the first and last say.

I am a Wage Clerk on a farm in Elgin/Grabouw. I have set up about 79 wage earners and app**** for them via E filing. Approx 30 to 40 have tax numbers but SARS has declined them due to having numbers.<br> <br> I phoned SARS who has told me that there is no way they can help other than the employee phoning them.<br> <br> I now have to get 30 to 40 people into the office Half of them cannot speak English or Afrikaans very well. Also they actually are out in the orchard most of the day.<br> <br> I asked if we sent this list off to a tax practitioner could they assist. SARS wont allow this either.<br> <br> Sars are entitled to penalise a company if their employees do not have tax numbers. I feel SARS should at least help where there is a problem like this but are not at all willing to. Herewith is the latest Case no. ***. Spoke to SARS today. Also surely if I am logged into E Filing and they give a new number why not give the number as well for the person who has one. They can see who is requesting it.<br> <br> If only we could work together it might make for a better South Africa. (not just take,take,take)
