********ly penalized for below threshold
On 7 February 2020 I was retrenched. Severance package was paid on 26 February 2020, of which I received not even a fraction of what was due to me as SARS instructed my employer I owe penalties for years 2***. For the full duration of this period it was not required of me to submit any IRP'S due to being below the threshold. I went to SARS Pretoria CBD last week Wednesday spent my day with multiple agents giving me various stories on the same profile. My efiling account was disconnected due to not being active since 2013. I had to re register and wat 48hours to submit returns that I am not required to submit. Thursday 27 Feb I am back at SARS and Vincent assisted me and requested a remission for these penalties as he assured me the penalties were wrongfully issued as on the system it stated not required to submit yet I was penalized. Now On Monday 2 March I spoke to yet another consultant who again gives me a different version to what I was told on Thursday 27 February and again on Tuesday 3 March I speak to a Zola and Sherry both again different versions same profile same query. I am then to submit these returns which I did as per Zola request and the call gets cut. I call back speak to Sherry who tells me i wont get my money back cause my submissions are late. What does "not required to submit" mean if you getting penalized incorrectly. Sherry then tells me to send an email to *** and request my remission on email as efiling has a technical error. I do this and get an automated email to wait 21 days. I am beyond distorted and in disbelief. I require a full refund as this was wrongfully done and instead of fixing the problem, I am being pushed from pillar to post. I have not even paid my rent. I have children to take care of, job hunting to do and not a cent in my account as SARS decided to take my money.
