Umhlanga SARS would do less if it was possible

The issue: A transfer duty receipt was paid for and issued, value R305 000. This receipt was issued in the husband's name instead of joint names of the husband and wife. We were told that SARS cannot/will not change the name on the receipt and that a new one must be app**** for and paid for with either a further payment of R305 000 or we must apply and wait for the refund of the previously paid R305 000.

The refund was requested on 18 April and today, 15 May the property transfer has been delayed for so long that a new rates clearance has had to be app**** for. We decided to visit SARS Umhlanga this morning and were told that the process was totally electronic and that there was no specific 'Transfer Duty' dept. We were told that we could try the main switchboard in an attempt to get some feedback. There was absolutely no interest shown for our concerns and I am surprised that such an attitude is allowed at SARS.
