The mess with sars refunds

I did my tax return for 2017 at a sars branch which went off ok as my sms showed everything was in order up until I decided to call them 5 days later and was told there was a special stopper on my account which I then went back in to verify all my details on the same day which was day 5. The consultant told me my money should be paid within 7 working days although it usually ends up sooner. Only to call them today to find out that its not 7 days anymore but 21 days turnaround time. I can understand the verification side things but what I dont get is that why does it take Sars such a long time to pay a refund. This is ridiculous. By now they should of updated their system to work more effecient but instead its getting worse every year. The sad side of it is nothing happens even after complaints is made. When sars take your money we as citizens just have to accept them taking it and when they delay in paying you we just have to accept as well. This shouldnt be happening. Like sars we should not be waiting to get paid. This is our own money that is due to us. We as citizens should stand together and say enough.... Its the only way things can change and that is if we bring about that change. It angers me that we as individuals are being messed around with tax refunds and nothing is being done about this......Every year u hear Sars ombudsman is sorting it out but are they doing anything because all I see is the situation blowing more out of control.
