Tax number

No one at SARS can help me with a tax number. I have some funds to pay out. But must have a tax number. I am 63 and did not work for the past 20 years. No my claim is rejected because I dont have a tax number. That is so frustated. I need my funds urgently. Already waiting for 1 year.
