In April 2022 I received my annuity benefits from Sanlam. The amount that I was supposed to receive was R80 000. The South African Revenue Service deducted R29 000. I contacted SARS on numerous occasions. They told me to give them 21 working days for them to tell me why they deducted this amount. A day before the 21 days were over they called me and said I must give them a written request. Then they told me to wait another 21 working days. Up until today I haven't heard from them. I tried to get hold of them but I couldn't.
