SLOW RESPONSE AND NO INFORMATION ON FILING

<p>I tried to file my return on 1 July- it came back with this message:</p> <p>Please note that your return cannot be processed immediately due to an outstanding Tax Directive. Therefore, manual intervention is required. SARS will advise you as soon as your return has been assessed. LUMP SUM DECLARED BUT DIRECTIVE OUTSTANDING </p> <p> </p> <p>I contacted my previous employer who insisted they had not made an error-so then contacted SARS helpline. The person on the call called me rude because I said that I COULD READ THE MESSAGE online but needed to know what to do- eventually he said that the directive is there but needs to be manually matched so I must go ahead and file the return.</p> <p> </p> <p>I filed the return on 7 July- there had still been no movement whatsoever on my filing by the 26 July so I refiled the same thing as a correction. There still has been nothing done and its over 30 days later. All other people I know of had assessments immediately - even once with request for documents have been re-assessed, This is ridiculous- what is going on??</p> <p> </p> <p>I lecture tax at CPUT and always tell students that SARS is one of the best tax agencies in the world and our efiling is unbelievably efficient- however I guess this type of filing becomes an exception?</p> <p> </p>
