SARS REFUND

During the 2017/2018 Tax Year I was staying and working in Botswana, but paid tax in SA. According to the tax laws at that stage I was liable for a refund from SARS if I comp**** with certain rules. Which I did.

I submitted my tax via a Tax Practitioner at the beginning of July. At the same time my husband submitted his as well and was refunded without problems. Mine however is still outstanding. No matter what I try, I cannot get my refund.

After almost a year of waiting I was told that the IRP5 was incorrect and had the incorrect codes. I contacted the company in SA and they fixed this and the new IRP 5 was submitted by the company as well as the tax practitioner. Once again we waited. We logged disputes several times. Then with no feedback from SARS at all, we approached the Ombudsman. They at least came back to us and advised that we log another dispute. Which we subsequently did. It was done around 25 March 2021. Now we are still waiting and it is November already.

The amount owing is around R40,000 which is a lot of money and I could really use it at this stage.

I am absolutely at my wits end and do not know what to do to get this matter settled.
