SARS hands-over after booking for returns

I have a telephonic appointment with SARS as per referenced above so to do my tax returns. In 2023 I didnt them online but later was told I didnt submit, however, after the booking was made with a SARS agent, SARS hands me over to lawyers with penalty already for no returns. What the hell??
