SARS Contact centre poor service.
I have never been pushed from pillar to post as much as with SARS. Whenever you get through to the SARS contact centre you get the "we are experiencing very high volumes at present, please be patient". The first time I tried it was in the middle of the day, and I was number 360 or so in the queue. The next time I phoned at 08.00, and they were still experiencing very high volumes, but I was number 4 in the queue. The call centre operator was very efficient and told me that I needed to book a telephonic engagement and submit some documents such as ID, Founding statement. The engagement had to be booked online, and the earliest appointment was 1 week ahead. At the arranged time, SARS phoned and advised I would have to submit some other documents specific to the query. I had to submit the documents online after I had created a new telephonic engagement, which again was another week ahead. They never called to keep this appointment, and that is primarily where my trouble started - I have now called 5 times , and each time after I have explained the issue they then ask me a whole host of questions (all of which are on my previous submissions), and every time on a terrible phone line where I had to ask them to repeat the questions several times. And then after they have all the info required they say "we will get someone to phone you back", which to date has never happened. You cannot just go into SARS and wait anymore, and if you want to make a Branch appointment, again this can only be done online - my local office is Springs, and the online system always says "No bookings available". So all I can do is wait and hope someday SARS will wake up and call me. Would any private company stay in business for any length of time if they gave this level of service.
