Questionable income tax assessment.
The first shocking encounter was the fact that I was sent an email by SARS on the 2nd of July 2022 stating that my annual income was R554 000 and some change. The second issue was trying to call SARS and not getting through, but eventually sent a sms that resulted in a phone call telling when can I come through. My assessment had been concluded before I could even have a chance to contest it. On the 28th of July 2022 I was called by a gentlemen named Vusi to inform me they were on strike and my complaint will be settled over the phone by one of their personnel on the set date of the 29th of July 2022. A lady by the name of Lucy called me today at 11h26 saying I should just state my problem with a voice of annoyance and as I was speaking to her she dropped the phone on me. I did address my issue with her tone and responded to say that I must get off her back because I do not know her like that and the conversation ended there. My shock here is I am married out of community of property and my gross income stands at around R378 000 and some change and I do not have any other income besides my salary.
