Poor service and suspected ******** working for SARS
Hi,
Poor services and suspected ******** working for SARS are responsible for my wife being under severe stress as she is to try to submit her tax returns for the 2020/2021 financial year. This so-called first submission was done through e-filing in August 2021 which she didn't even register for, just after SARS submission of tax returns was open to taxpayers due to the easing of COVID-19 conditions to alert level-3. It was so easy for SARS officials to manipulate the profiles of taxpayers on the system since they already have their IRP5 forms in their systems such that it even allowed those working for SARS to unilaterally change the bank details of my wife and then divert the money to be claimed for their personal use.
She was told that her tax return has already been submitted and the money due to her that amounts to R11 885.01 (an abnormal amount from what she used to get) was deposited to an ABSA Bank account which does not belong to her and which is not even registered in her SARS personal profile. She was only given R655.01 as she was submitting her tax returns (second assessment) personally and they are saying they have canceled the first e-filing submission that she didn't do, however, the R11 855 that was claimed is still unaccounted for. It has been more than 21 days (the deadline they gave to her) after they promised her that they are investigating the matter and also provided her the so-called case number (***) but when she went to them yesterday they are still driving her from pillar to post.
By the way, she tells me that there were many other tax-payers at the SARS offices branch here in Durban who are victims of this **** from within SARS officials and who are complaining about almost the same matter of claims from SARS being deposited to bank accounts that are not of their own, yet SARS is failing to resolve the matter.
My wife is now considering taking legal action against SARS.
