How to win friends and influence people

Since tax season 2015 I have been complaining that the S****FILING website is not functioning correctly. To recap (by tax season):

2015: I was selected for an audit. How did I guess that? Because my colleagues told me when I mentioned to them that I had not received my refund. Did I get a letter reflecting this? No. When I called the call center, I was told that I had 24 hours left to submit the documents as per the "letter". This letter was not visible to the consultant who looked at my account, but was visible on a different system. They agreed that this was wrong. My efiling page also did not give me the option to upload documents... take the day off and spend 6 hours at SARS to manually hand in all the documents.

2016: Oh happy surprise: I am selected for an audit... auditor got their numbers wrong and declined to acknowledge my RAs. Eventually I lodged a complaint and the CMO folks seem to have created some magic as I got refunded... except that my efiling page says that I am still awaiting the results of the audit process... now a whole year later... so much for the "30 business days".

2017: Selected for audit... wonderful news... especially when I get asked for 3 month's bank statements to prove that I had paid 1 RA... Which I did, in a single payment. According to the call center, there is a "upload" or "submit" button, except that there is none... also the SARS correspondence is NOT on my efiling page.... what is the recourse? Lodge a complaint according to the consultant at the end of the line... Wonderful... except the CMO closed the complaint as the matter was "still within service levels".... In what WAY? HOW THE HECK IS THE LACK OF A WORKING INTERNET SYSTEM "within service levels"?

So.. off to SARS I went, but wait, there's more! Not only ca I not upload documents, for SARS to do so is a "complex advanced issue" and I need to wait 3 1/2 hours to spend 2 minutes at a counter for the consultant there to upload my documents (a grand total of 4 pages).

Hiring a tax consultant will cost me roughly R2,000. Could save me an extra R10,000... add to it the time I spent in the queue and the day's eave had to take, the time on the phone, etc. my guess is that it is worth it...

Tax rebellion? No, but since the "oh so nice" letter from SARS claims that I requested this extra auditing step, I may as well make my tax affairs so complex that the auditors waste time to discover that I really have nothing to hide.
