Horrifying SARS Orlando (SOWETO) experience

My name is Sibusiso, I live in Soweto. I run a small business.

I can't believe how ridiculous the service in SARS Orlando (Soweto) branch is. There's a lot of things I was unhappy about, but the one that gets to me the most is how they have a system to allow people to queue knowing that 50% are gonna be told to return the following day. I know this because I've been sent home so many times to pick up on their patterns, it's so bad it wouldn't be so hard for a blind man to notice it either.

They treat all their customers as though they're toddlers, as if they ALL don't know what they're going inside the branch for. They object when you try respond to information they give which in some cases is false. All they focus on is tax registrations but don't care about small businesses AT ALL! No lies, they can tell you to come back tomorrow only because they don't like a format of a letterhead. They are so discouraging, these are one of many big reasons why the youth in Soweto gives up in scary group numbers. I'm convinced their service delivery works on a lottery basis depending on moods, weather or day of the week, you don't even want to wake up before they open. Yes!! Thaaat BAD.

There's never a national downtime with them, their problems only affect one branch. Theirs! I can drive to the branch in Joburg, in most cases I just go to the edenvale branch but that's the thing, not everyone drives in Soweto, most people that go there are the youth, some walking long distances to go to SARS only to be told to come back the following day. I wish I could just say "if you have a small business and live in Soweto, just go to another branch" but maybe they should just put signs and inform tax payers that they don't take small business queries AT ALL instead of what they're doing. I promise whether there's a branch or no branch in Soweto doesn't really matter, it wouldn't make much of a difference AT ALL.

They know that most of our people are gullible and naïve, there's barely even protests about the ******* they tell you to come back the following day for. Yeah I know I can just "go online to do my tax stuff", I do but for this query I have I needed to go in a physical branch. If you have a small business, are a tax payer, and live in Soweto, you're as good as being in a remote area because SARS Orlando is just a waste of time.
