Disappointing service from SARS.
I submitted a tax return claim via -eFilling with all supporting documents on the 5th of August. On the 24th of August, I then received correspondence via SMS and email that verification has been finalised and a Notice of Assessment has been issued.
A week passed and no payment was received, so I called the SARS call centre and to my suprise I was advised that my refund was paid into a Capitec Bank account on the 27th of August.
I've never changed banking details on my SARS e-filling profile and I've always used the same bank since the very first time I claimed from SARS. One would expect communication to be sent after such a change has been made, but none was sent. Not an SMS or email, absolutely nothing! HOW DO BANKING DETAILS CHANGE WITH NO CORRESPONDENCE FROM SARS CONFIRMING THAT I'VE CHANGED BANKING DETAILS?
Why is it that I've been receiving correspondence upon receipt of my verification documents and completion of verification, but none was received when banking details were changed?
I've been to SARS in Bara and was told the case would take a year or 2 to resolve as it needs a full-on investigation with SAPS.
My question now is, do I now have to be inconvenienced and wait for that 2 years for something that could've been avoided had I received an SMS or email ,as per norm, stating the change of details?
The system populates a message on a user's profile if banking details have been changed. It would say payment is delayed due to bank verification. How is then ppssible that my banking details were changed with no verification being done?
