Extreme Incompetence all through- situation still not resolved
Submitted my return 3Jul2017 Supporting documents submitted in full- all in order (I know this because my husband submitted the exact same documents as we are married in community- his return was finalised immediately and refund received within a week). I get asked twice to resubmit documents. Twice I submit the same documents again (5 and 24July). I also get asked to verify my banking details as I share an account with my husband. After two lengthy calls to SARS I realise it will be much less drama to just get my own account in my own name. I specially open a new bank account in my own name only for SARS purposes and submit this. I receive an incorrect assessment not taking my submitted documents into account. I take leave from work, organise babysit9ters, drive to Bellville, spend entire day in queue (22 Aug), when I reach the SARS consultant (Deon Zandberg- what a knowledgable and extremely nice and helpful guy- he was the only ray of light in this storm) he says that the auditor required a certain document ("Income Statement of Rental Property") which he could clearly see was there- thus it was SARS' auditor's mistake. I resubmit this document for the 4th time, both electronically and physically at the branch. I also make sure to ask the consultant whether my bank details are confirmed and I present all my FICA documents in hard copies, certified and the consultant confirms its in order and there will be no problems. The consultant assists me in creating a NOO (notice of objection) which we file and I leave. (Case Numbers: ********** 07, ********** 05) After this I get a notification via efiling AGAIN that I need to submit that specific document. (19 Oct 2017) By this time I've already submitted it 4 times, 3 times uploaded and once in person as a hardcopy at a branch. I phone SARS again (another lenghty call- by now I've spent a huge amount of phone costs and time on SARS). The consultant informs me I can email this document. I email this document to them, this is the 5th time that I am submitting THE SAME DOCUMENT TO SARS. 27OCt: MORE THAN A MONTH AFTER IVE BEEN TO THE BRANCH only I receive notice that my account has finally been finalised correctly with SARS owing me a huge refund. 16 NOV: 3 WEEKS later I realised its not getting paid out. I phone SARS. After another lengthy call SARS says my banking details are not FICA'd and I need to go into the branch again. ARE YOU JOKING ME. So I need to take time off again (from the job which pays towards their salaries) to go to a branch and do THE EXACT THING WHICH I'VE DONE BEFORE AT A BRANCH A FEW WEEKS AGO. (Case nr: ********** 36, spoke to manager Malefo). I've requested her manager to phone me back. I have kids and a job- this is not acceptable.
