Delay in deregistering tax number

My previous employer created another tax number for me without my consent which fortunately was never used. I discovered this when I was unable to cash my pension. SARS informed me that the recent tax number needed to be deregistered. The deregistration was filed at SARS Polokwane on November 20,2019. It takes 21 working days to clear. To date, I'm still waiting with no feedback even after the case has been escalated. The person responsible for my case is obviously in no rush whatsoever to do his or her job. Kindly assist.
