Waiting 6 MONTHS for Santam Insurance

In 2016 24th of December I was on holiday in Durban where my vehicle was ****** on the 25th of December.

I reported it to the police and the vehicle was found and it was standing at the police station’s impound waiting to be inspected, then the vehicle was released to Santam and they towed it to their impound to be assessed by the assessor.

The first assessor kept me in a loop causing me to stay in Durban for a month spending a lot of money just to stay there. I called him every day and each time he had an excuse. I complained to Santam and they replaced him.

I used all my leave days and almost lost my job because of that. For 5 months till present I am paying public transport to keep my job and buy food. And for 5 Months I’m still paying Santam the monthly amount for insurance. I had to hire a car to get back in Cape Town and explain to my boss what’s happening. (On my expenses

Only on the 3rd of April the 2nd assessor called me and he was appointed to my claim, I also struggled to get him to do his job and he also had a bunch of excuses. I was BEGGING these people!!!

On the 16th of May after months I received an email saying that the settlement pay-out will be R 29 873 – R 3500 = R 26 373 in total. But my vehicle is insured for R 35 000. They found old damages on the vehicle witch apparently are R 6681 was also deducted, and they added a 100 000km extra to the mileage of the vehicle while in the report a photo of the speedometer is CLEARLY saying 86 565km. Santam never inspected the vehicle or send me to a place to be inspected when I took out the insurance, it was all done via phone.

This is just stupid because it tells me they are going to fix the vehicle witch I will be paying for because it is deducted from my claim pay-out amount. So I asked the assessor how will they calculate old damages if I was in an accident and the car is into pieces and he said “also by quotation”.

First I want a reason to why they want to write off the vehicle witch will be stated in the assessor’s report witch I received 6 months after the vehicle was ******. So I said to the assessor that I rather want my vehicle back and he said it is already written off but they don’t even have the registration papers and I did not gave them the authority to do that nor did I agreed to the claim. Now my vehicle is standing at an auction house waiting to be auctioned off.

Now I don't know what to do anymore, I need help.

Regards,
