Sh**ty service from SANTAM when claiming.
Hate seeing their add bragging about their paying out claims.
Have a claim in dispute with them at present. Have a ground floor unit in a complex where unit above me had a broken toilet pipe and every time they flushed my bathrooms were flooded with sh*t water. This has happened over a period of time. My unit is unfortunately only occupied during April and December. Due to this sh*t toilet water drying getting wet, drying getting wet constantly over a period of time it has left dirty sh*t stains on both my bathroom floor tiles. SANTAM in their wisdom are not concerned about health aspects in this regard and their response to the claim is the marks do NOT stop the functionality of the bathrooms and the client must live with these sh*t stained tiles. Who knows what health risks can happen going forward especially if we have children crawling over these areas, don't even like to consider what could go wrong.
Personally feel SANTAM are very unreasonable in this regard and due to the nature of what caused the problem to the tiles they should only be willing to have them replaced. They are quite happy taking our premiums every month for years and now when I need them most - they are full of nonsense.
This issue is with the short term Ombudsman at present for their ruling on this.
Just thought it prudent to let the public know of what they can possibly expect in future if and when they may claim with this company.
Thank you for taking the time to notify us of this.
As you have indicated you have already approached the Ombudsman and they are already attending we take note of your concerns mentioned here.
The Ombudsman will thus provide you with their decision once they have concluded their investigation.
Kind regards

I do not know what will happen when a baby crawling over these foecal stained tiles gets sick.
Is SANTAM then liable for the health damage claims? I would certainly think and hope so.
Clients with this company must be vary weary of their policy wording. They say they do not pay out for "marred" tiles. Does not matter that problem caused by a totally different unit to mine. I must suffer brown marks on my tiles. It is disgusting knowing that the stains are as a result of sh*t water drying on them time and again. The value of my unit is lower due to this as well.
Without prejudice - I will be doing my utmost to get the body corporate to change insurers as quickly as possible due to this. It means this company will no longer get a R13400+ premium per month just because they see fit to avoid paying out a R4500 claim.
Definitely makes good business sense to them (NOT).
So again readers please be very weary of this company as they will do their best to take your money each month and then fight tooth and nail to avoid paying claims if they can.
