Shocking service
My experience has Santam has been absolutely shocking. My mother passed away 1 and a half years ago. My Mom left her house to me in her estate. Her house insurance was with Santam. I informed them of her passing and was told it would have to remain in my Mom's name until the estate was settled. Fair enough, I understood that. Once the house was transferred into my name, I notified them. I was asked to submit all the legal documentation through to them including the title deed to show the house was in my name. They then requested a letter from the High Court to show the estate was wound up. As per the attorneys, they would only get that in a year or more's time. The Attorneys then had to submit another letter for this. I requested a quote from them which I decided to decline due to being messed around so much. I submitted my cancellation request before the end of December to which nobody responded. After I had moved my insurance to another company, I saw thar Santam decided to debit my account leaving me with 2 x debit orders for my house insurance. When I asked for my money to be refunded to me, I was told that I could not cancel the policy, only the Attorneys could cancel it. The Attorneys sent through the cancellation request and have now been informed that the Executors must send the cancellation request through. Please make up your minds. This has been such a painful experience, that I will never use Santam's services again and won't recommend them to anyone.
