Santam writes off your car if the repairs exceed 57% of the vehicle's insured value.

Please be aware that if the repairs on your vehicle exceeds 57% of your vehicle's insured value that they will write it off. It's not written in black and white in your policy documents, but hidden in a description of the term "written off". Santam also has the lowest % compared to other insurers, so be aware of this when you take out your insurance.

I will go out of my way to warn people of this and I will never insure anything with Santam again.

My car was insured for R127 000 but my repairs cost more than R72 390. The repairs are less than R127 000 but they are saying it's not economically viable for them. Now I have to write off my car and try to buy a car with R127 000 that will replace what I used to have.
