SANTAM - shame on you

End of 2024, my husband and I cancelled our policy for home and car insurance after the following happen to us with SANATM. The cottage on the property, ceiling panels started coming loose. There are 6 panels across the kitchen/dining room. the two center panels came loose and feel down. The following took place. We have a broker. The incident was reported. Fortunately, my husband had called a handyman to attend to the ceiling panels before they fell. Handyman arrived the day after the panels had fallen. The handyman saved the four remaining panels from falling. Fast forward to the "encounter" with SANTAM. We asked for the assessor to come and inspect. My husband received a phone call from the broker, asking questions that were asked of her from SANTAM. All questions asked. No response. Then a week later, another phone call from the broker. more questions. from SANTAM. short cut, answer, last question from the broker, any other incident to or around the house? Yes, in 2023, July, there was a mild earthquake in Alberton that was felt across JHB to Bryanston. Cups and hanging pictures moved, reported to the broker. A week later my husband got a phone call, SANTAM are not fixing the ceiling. Reason, why did the entire building of around 150 sq m. not fall down. It was a faulty installation. Here is why we left SANTAM. No assessor, no further investigations necessary. What SANTAM broker forgot to ask, any other reason you can think of? Just goodbye. What had happened to the kitchen ceiling was, 10 years prior, there was a leak in the kitchen from the roof. The entire kitchen ceiling and floor tiles had to be replaced. This was done by the Insurance company we were with at the time. As a result, I called one of the past chairmen of the Building Ethics Commitee. His opinion, two different builders, worked in the kitchen, reason, two very different quality of equipment and quite inferior/incorrect nails/*****s boards etc. This would account for the effects of the 4,2 earthquake, recorded July of 2023. A woman sitting in W.P. an employee at a Brokerage company, who I discovered, has never had a building license, A office worker, never a builder! A instruction to question a client of SANTAM. Well, done SANTAM. Getting out of sending an assessor. Shame on you. Wenda.
