SANTAM rejects wall collapse claim after heavy rains!

After the heavy rains in 2022 a portion of our wall collapsed! Our house including the boundary wall is insured for over 6m. SANTAM refuses to rebuild or reimburse us for the claim, stating that our wall was built incorrectly. This statement is FALSE.

It’s emerged that our plot has enormous underground water, which combined with the heavy rains, ultimately caused its’ collapse. The underground water situation is so severe that directly outside our wall, the water seeping from our plot has caused the roads to crack open and develop potholes.

The area municipality engineers came to make an independent assessment which we provided to SANTAM. Their report with pictures states that: our “plot has high levels of underground water which has led to the corrosion and collapse of the wall and has also led to the development of potholes directly outside the home”.

SANTAM has refused to pay out for MONTHS! A reputable insurance company should care for its’ client’s safety, especially when the merits of a claim are clear.

SANTAM gets ZERO on performance and meeting their end of the deal.
