Santam, no accountability

<p>W.O.P</p> <p>On Saturday morning, 20 August 2016, I was involved in a accident with A truck from MBT Petroleum, close to Bapsfontein.</p> <p> </p> <p>Time: 7:20 am. Registration of truck, CM41HPGP.</p> <p> </p> <p>I and 3 friends were cycling to a bike race in Witpoort, we were riding on the shoulder on the right side of the road. Right of the yellow line. We approached a garage that was on our right and the truck was standing still obviously waiting for a gap in traffic to cross over. I was second in our line of riders and as we were passing in front of the truck the driver pulled off!!!!! I tried to swerve but the truck hit me and I was thrown into the oncoming traffic. It is literally a miracle that I was not ridden over by oncoming cars!!!</p> <p> So, your driver saw nothing, besides that he was on his cell phone. I have 3 witnesses that saw the whole thing as well as a doctor who stopped to help. Again by some miracle I walked away with nothing broken except a lot of bruises and my life for which I am incredibly grateful.</p> <p> </p> <p>This incident went on to Santam for a third party claim, they contacted me last week and informed me that they are not liable and wont pay for any damages. Furthermore they make it sound like I cycled into their truck?, not going to happen. Also they claim the driver of the truck wasnt supposed to look in the direction we were coming from, meanwhile what about other cars or pedestrians?. The driver was on his cell phone, I have 3 witnesses who can prove that. Santam also did not conduct any form of investigation that I am aware of, they based all their findings on what?</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
