SANTAM IS TERRIBLE

On 22nd September 2019 I hit potholes and damaged three of my BMW's tyres. The representative / inspector from Good Year investigated the damaged tyres showed me how the impact of a pothole damaged the tyres on the inside. I registered the claim with SANTAM INSURANCE. Lesego from Santam called me to discuss the claim. I explained to him that I needed to replace the tyres urgently as I could not keep using my vehicle in that condition. He wanted to see the tyres, but the dealer, who replaced the tyres, did not keep old stuff. They have to clean their shop on a regular basis. The car has not got space for me to transport the damaged tyres. There were quite a number of conversations and emails regarding this matter. One of the Santam officials questioned the fact that there was no damage to the rims and other parts of the car. "How could your tyres be damaged and not the rest of the car?" I realised that maybe there was damage that was not visible. Thus I took the car to a panel beater for investigation. But still there was no decision regarding my claim. I went through the trouble of acquiring the Good Year inspector’s report of the tyres. It was him who confirmed, based on the damage inside the tyres, that the potholes caused the damage. The panel beater’s report plus the tyre inspector’s report was send to Santam. Now, all of a sudden Lesego mentioned that BMW’S rims are soft and even under normal conditions BMW’s rims only last 4 years. He also claims to know exactly how long other parts of the BMW last before needing replacement. Thus to question the panel beater’s quotation. All this nonsence and numerous conversations and emails just to find reasons not to honour the claim.. Santam also claims that there is no proof that other damages, as diagnosed by the panel beater, were caused by the incident at question. TODAY I REALISE THAT AFTER BEING A LOYAL CLIENT AT SANTAM FOR FOUR DECADES, SANTAM IS DOING THEIR UTMOST TO FIND REASONS NOT TO PAY. SANTAM WANTS TO RUN AWAY FROM THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. Pierre Hills, Jovan Africa, Lesego and Thashil Ramdhaw were the people I communicated with. They were very reluctant to keep me informed and it was very hard to get response on my emails. This is contrary to Santam's claim on their adverti*****ts.. Flip Kuhn
