Santam is no better than the rest.....
I previously had comprehensive insurance with an insurance company whose monthly contributions escalated out of reason. I approached Santam in 2024 for a comparative qoute based on what I had. Based on the qoute provided, I changed to Santam. Yesterday my geyser tripped my electricity, and the plumber today informed me that my thermostat and element needs to be replaced, but that I should check with Santam, as this is generally not covered, and treated as maintenance....???? How is a geyser part that works one day, and breaks the next day, maintenance? When I spoke to the Santam call center, I was told my policy does not provide me with an option to cover geyser parts, and that this was excluded from my policy......??? Something that was not explained to me when I was offered the comprehensive policy. Santam also failed to disclose that any claims on vehicle repairs carried a R5000 excess for the first 6 months of the policy...... I will definitely make sure that I do not recommend Santam for insurance to anyone I know. Poor marketing not disclosing full information seems purposeful to mislead new clients. This is sad as I believed that I moved to a highly esteemed service provider......
