Santam insurance's other attempt at destroying another black business, black people you are on your own

I have insurance with Santam through JVC insurance brokers since March 2020. On the 1st day of March 2023 I submitted a claim regarding a ****** vehicle through JVC insurance brokers, what I was told to submit with the claim form was the enatis/copy of the registration document and a settlement letter.

Both these documents state clearly who the owner of the vehicle is. Upon receipt of the above mentioned by the broker and the insurance. I received an email from the broker forwarding me a question from the insurance about the reason for the delay in submitting the claim. I did explain the reason. a couple of days later I was told that the assessor would like to contact me to set up an appointment to interview me. The assessor did contact me and came to see me on the date and time that was arranged and asked me whatever he wanted to clarify.

After the meeting the assessor asked me to go get a copy of my statement from the police. I didn't understand why that is my job, I called Jason at JVC since he's always maintained that I should contact him for anything I needed from JVC. I told him that I don't understand why I should be investigating myself having to go look for my statement from the police. He told me that it is standard procedure even though I was wondering why that was not requested with the other documents to support the claim form. After a lot of struggle I ended up getting the statement from the police and submitted the same to JVC insurance brokers. on the 15th March I received a whatsapp message from the Santam assessor asking me whether the vehicle was financed and paid in full, my response to him was that on the day he came to see me he did ask me the same question and also confirmed that he did receive the documentation relating to whether the vehicle was financed or not. His response to that was that he's looking at the settlement letter and can see that the validity is only for 5 days, and that he will let me know if we need to obtain a new letter.

On Monday the 20th March, the assessor sent me another whatsapp message asking for the latest settlement letter, he said to me that if I can send it to him on that day the 20th March he'll be able to finalise the claim on that day as that is the only report outstanding. I responded by saying I have requested and that I will send it to him as soon as I get it.

on Wednesday the 22nd March I received another whatsapp message asking me for feedback on the new settlement letter, my response was that the people concerned were not working on Monday because of the protest march.

On Friday the 24th I also received a whatsapp message asking me for the same and I responded by saying I am still waiting and that as soon as I receive it I will forward it immediately.

On Monday the 27th March I received the updated settlement letter and forwarded it immediately as promised. What I found very strange is that the person who's been pushing me everyday for this all of a sudden received it but didn't even acknowledge receipt. He said that was the only outstanding document, I expected feedback on Tuesday but nothing happened. Yesterday Wednesday the 29th March I decided to call JVC brokers and spoke to Jason because the assessor told me that the claim should have been finalised in 5 days but now we're going for a month here.

Jason told me something that I thought wasn't thought through properly, he said the decision may be delayed for a couple more days because the assessor says he wants to call the owner of the vehicle to talk to him about our rental arrangement. I found this very strange because on the day that the assessor came to interview me, the issue of ownership was discussed in detail and I even gave the assessor the contact detail of the owner on that same day and he said he was going to call him. It is clear to me that JVC insurance brokers and or Santam insurance is looking for excuses to avoid settling the claim. I am small business that is struggling to survive under the difficult environment our country is facing, so this is clearly another attempt to kill another black owned small business. When paying premiums the colour of the skin doesn't matter, but when we get to claim stage a black person will always be treated like a ********.

I am not going to take this matter lying down, I am going to do everything possible to expose what is clearly a violation of my human rights in the country of my birth. the next step from here is the ombud, if that doesn't work I will stop at nothing to expose Santam and mobilise black people of this country about who Santam really represent.

I registered a complaint about Santam short term insurance on this platform on the 30th March 2023 regarding a claim registered on the beginning of March 2023, the last response I received from Santam was on the 30th of March 2023 where I was asked to provide the claim number. up to that point the broker Jvc insurance had not provided me with one and I requested it from them after Santam informed me that they will not be able to assist unless I provide them with a claim number. On the 31st of March JVC insurance did provide me with the claim number which I provided Santam. Today is the 20th of April 2023 but I still have not heard a thing from Santam 20 days later. I kept on asking JVC insurance where we are with the claim, but they keep moving the goal post. The last email I sent to JVC insurance was on the 6th of April 2023 where I warned them that unless this matter is resolved I will have no choice but to register a complaint with the Ombud for short term insurance. I only received a response from Elsa from JVC insurance on the 11th April 2023 where she said the matter will be finalised in 4-5 working days. Today is 7 working days later or 2 days later than the time they set themselves, but I still have not heard from them. I am so very disappointed by Santam which held in such high esteem.

Sir,

Your message is noted and we do apologise for the frustration and inconveninecde this process has caused you.
The claim number you provided is the claim number from your broker and what they use in their office and not a Santam claim number.

We cannot access your broker's details and thus can only assist upon  receipt of the Santam claim number.
Your broker is also not in Santam's employment and thus can we not comment on the service received from the broker in this regard.

Kindly provide us with the Santam claim number in order to assist?

Kind  regards

Kindly provide me with an email address where I can send you the Santam policy schedule I was issued when I joined JVC insurance since 2020 showing both Santam and JVC insurance logos at the top and clearly states that it was a Santam policy schedule, it was last updated in November 2022

I don't understand what you want anymore, you just told me that JVCinsurance is not in Santam's employment, now when I ask you to forward me an email address so that I can send you the policy schedule so that you can determine whether my policy schedule is *****ulent or not, now you say I must go back to the broker whom you claim is not in your employment to ask him to give me a Santam claim number. How is that going to be possible?

Sir,

You clearly do no understand the process etc and where the broker fits into the situation.
Santam is the insurer -- your broker is the intermediary between yourself and Santam, they therefore represent and serve you as client.

The broker, JVC Insurance is not employed by Santam, they are a separate entity and function as JVC Insurance Brokers.
Nothing has ever been mentioned about your policy being **********.

Just provide us with the Santam claim number which you will find from your broker and provide us with same?
They register a claim in their office with their claim number and  their records but also have to have that claim registered with the insurer, Santam, so they will be able to provide you with the Santam claim number.
