Santam Insurance is the largest group of *****sters.
On April 14, 2025, I submitted a claim for an accident to Santam, which I initially thought was due to a flat battery. However, I was informed by First Help personnel that the issue was with the damaged sump, and I needed to file a motor accident claim. Santam directed me to have my car assessed, which I did. My mechanic confirmed the findings of the First Help personnel, stating that oil was leaking from the sump. Santam then sent their own assessor, who inspected the vehicle on two separate occasions who confirmed damaged sump. A committee meeting was held, and they decided to cover only the repair of the sump, not the entire engine. Further assessment was deemed necessary. The car was taken to a Santam-affiliated workshop, where their mechanic, come up with this observation (a bump at the bottom of the vehicle sump however there is no hole at the bottom where oil would have leaked out from. timing chain had snapped which is a mechanical issue, further it was found that the sump had previously been worked on and there is a hole on the top of the sump which looks like it had been repaired using silicon) ultimately the damaged Engen. The claim changed from accident to mechanical, which is not covered under my policy, a perfect reason not to pay. It took Santam over two months to come up with the outcome of their assessment regarding my claim. They clearly intended not to make a payment. They reviewed the Johannesburg CCTV footage to confirm my presence at work on that day, examined voice recordings to validate my account during the claims process, and conducted numerous other checks on my claim. All this was done to come up with a better and reasonable excuse to avoid payment. They are ****mers with the intention of extracting money from us promising to help us during our time of need. When the need arises, their true colours come evident.
