SANTAM INSURANCE A JOKE
I had an accident with my GOMOTO scooter in July 2014. A claim was logged with Santam for repairs. The original quote was around R7500 for a bike that was worth and insured for for R11000. I requested that the bike be scarpped. This quote was not accepted and the quote had to be adjusted to R6500 which was accepted. Parts were unavailable and the repair shop let Santam know about this. Today, after 7 months, Santam informs me that they will only pay out the repair cost (R6500) minus the excess of R1000. I have no use for the bike and cannot even buy a new one with what I get out. <br> Its frustrating that insurance companies always have clauses to protect themselves, yet the insured gets the short end of the stick. The fact that I still have to pay the excess is beyond me after 7 months of struggle. No wonder people commit ***** to get something out, yet we that go about doing it the right way are left behind.
